One of the best destinations in Bali: Gunung Agung

The highest and holiest of Bali’s peaks, the summit of Gunung Agung reaches an awe-inspiring 3,142m. It is also home the mother temple, Besakih, from where hikers can ake the only route that reaches the summit. The volcano erupted in 1963 with massive force blowing away the top 100 m of the peak and leaving a gigantic 500m crater. Climbing the peak is a legendary hard slog, but something to tell your grandchildren about, and rewards climber with incredible views.

Small public transportation run to Besakih. Tour buses go from Kuta and Ubud. Taking a guide to the summit is basically compulsory.

Ibah Luxury Villas as Ubud Bali

Ubud is a popular destination for honeymooners because of its cooler mountain climate and views of rolling rice paddies.

It shows them a side of Bali far removed from busy Kuta Beach and the resorts of Nusa Dua and Jimbaran, with easy access to Gunung Agung and the Ayung River for hiking and rafting tours respectively.

It is also the cultural home of Bali with regular performances of traditional dance, a cornucopia of art galleries featuring work by local and international artists, and lessons in everything from pottery and jewelry making to cooking and textile dyeing.

With some beautiful resorts set amongst the lush greenery and a focus on villa style accommodation, it is perfect for honeymooners seeking a hide away. A lot of people want a villa with private pool, garden area and good room service so they don’t have to leave their room if they don’t want to, and so that they don’t feel cramped like in a hotel.

The villas would want to be spacious and comfortable; most of Ibah’s honeymooners come from Japan, and many bring their parents along to help celebrate and share the room with them.

The staff there understands that it is a special time for the couple and so they are extra discreet and helpful. They will organize tours for couples wanting to go to sites such as Kintamani volcano or Besakih.

When it comes time for pampering, the couple is guaranteed privacy and tranquility with exclusive use of the spa facilities which include double massage beds, flower filled bath and Jacuzzi.

You can take a four night honeymoon package including the villa, breakfast, spa treatments over three days, a three course pool side dinner, free transport around Ubud, and complimentary activities such as Tai Chi classes, mountain biking and afternoon tea.

One of the best sightseeing highlights in Bali: Pura Luhur Uluwatu

Uluwatu is Bali’s most dramatic temple, with a spectacular location perched some 70 meters on the very tip of a narrow promontory above the crashing waves of the Indian Ocean. Sunset is the best time to see and photograph the temple but it is also the time when the crowds converge.

The temple was reputedly built in the eleventh century, and rebuilt in its present stat in the 16th century. Keep an eye out for naughty monkey. I really suggest you to take a guide for the tour around Uluwatu. It is not because this temple is so big that you need someone to take you here and there but mostly because this guide will also guard you from those monkeys. Trust me I know the experience when a wild monkey tried to grab my little daughter!

Uluwatu is located 20 km south of Kuta. Public transport is unreliable so you better to take your own transport or join one of the many tours available.

Heaven for honeymoon in Bali: catching up the romance of Paradise Island

According to Marian Carroll, the Balinese do not practice the honeymoon ritual themselves, but they certainly know how to put on a show for the thousands of newly weds who escape to the island every year to celebrate their new life together.

In fact, the Balinese do it so well that some traveling couples book in for honeymooner packages even though their claim to newly wed status is dubious. You can’t blame them. With its world class spas and restaurants, diverse scenery, cultural charms and unfailing hospitality, it is easy to get caught up in the romance of Bali.

Wedding organizer Oka Purnama says some honeymooners get so captivated that they want a second wedding ceremony in Bali, wearing the traditional Balinese costumes and exchanging vows in a Puri royal house. How romantic!

Many honeymooners ask for a Balinese ceremony just to experience a bit more of the island’s culture. The ceremony there is usually very simple and no legal ceremony with no guests involved in it.

Otherwise, the most common requests she gets are for cruise excursions to Nusa Lembongan to dive, surf and fish; dolphin sighting tours off Lovina on the north coast; rafting down the Ayung River in Ubud; and permission to watch religious ceremonies such as cremations.

Crash courses in Balinese cooking are also popular. Otherwise, couples just want to be pampered and relax before settling into married life.

There is no better place for it. The world class resorts and hotels dotted around the island have their finger on the pulse, with discreet yet efficient service to ensure peace, privacy and pampering for every couple, whether they want to lock themselves away or get out form some adventure.

Here are just a few of the most popular honeymoon destinations. Just come to Bali and experience the unforgettable honeymoon.

Ubud’ Art Galleries: where to go in Bali

With its picturesque rolling hills and emerald green rice terraces Ubud has for many decades nurtured its reputation as Bali’s artistic capital and as a highland retreat for those of a more creative demeanor, including foreign artists, such as Walter Spies and Antonio Blanco.

Ubud has a plethora of art galleries where you can shop around for your own Balinese masterpiece to take home. A visit to the Neka Museum, the Rudana Museum of Fine art, the Puri Lukisan Museum or the Agung Rai gallery, is recommended to get an idea of the different styles before making a purchase.

Shopping around and bargaining are advised. It’s just amazing how much you can learn about art in a short time if you put in the effort.

Gunung Batur and Lake Batur: another “must visit” destination in Bali

At 1,717m Gunung Batur is a much more user friendly volcano climbing experience than Agung. While the volcano is still active today, it only takes about two hours to climb to the summit. Many choose to leave before dawn to be at the top for sunrise.

If climbing before dawn, a guide is recommended. Otherwise the paths are easy to follow, and in the day a guide is not really necessary.

There’s even a small tea shop on top. Lake Batur is Bali’s largest at almost 9 km in length. Legend has it that this picturesque lake is the abode of goddess Ida Batara Dewi Ulun Danu.

Batur is 4 km east of Penelokan. About 8 km from Penelokan is Toya Bungkuh with accommodation and restaurants this is where you begin your ascent.

Several bars and café at Ubud, Bali

If you happen to visit Bali and plan to come to Ubud which is usually imagined as a place only for handicraft, you should also try several bars and café.

One of those café you should consider is Barandi which is located at Jl Hanoman. This is the talk of the town in Ubud. Barandi is the latest addition to Ubud’s burgeoning nightlife scene which also already been celebrated for its lychee martinis.

The other choice is Exiles. Saturday night is the night here when local jazz musicians turn up for a lively jam. Pretty basic jazz actually but it is fun.

Jazz café is another option. This is a real hit in Ubud, the live music is always good, sometimes great, very easy atmosphere, quality drinks and plenty of people to talk to in between sets. Snack off the menu or enjoy a full dinner. Live music plays nightly except Sunday and Monday, 7:30 pm until 10:30 pm.

If there is a Balinese warung with a touch of New York then Naughty Nuri should be the one. This café is a busy local hangout place filled with Ubud style characters. In this café you can find a laid back communal table, a small bar, roadside barbecue and an absolutely mean Martini. You can find this place at near the Neka Museum.

Putra Bar is a casual bar offering live reggae music. This is a good place to hang out if you can’t be bothered dressing up. So just go casual this time.

The other places you can chose are Sai Sai Bar which also offers you the live music and parties, and Terazo at Jl Suweta with a stylish cocktails bar or Wunderbar which its sophisticated interior design that makes you feel like being inside a Tequila Sunrise. You can find German food at Wunderbar, as well as live music.

Well, there are many options for you to live up your nightlife at Ubud, now the choice is yours!

Japanese Restaurant at Nusa Dua Bali for your choice

Any restaurant that is still around after more than fifteen year in business has to be pretty good. Opened back in the early nineties, Matsuri Japanese Garden restaurant near the Grand Hyatt in Nusa Dua is one of those long term players that has built its reputation on solid no nonsense Japanese cuisine in a cozy traditional atmosphere. The first thing you will notice about the restaurant is the outdoor seating. Complete with hanging paper lanterns, manicured Zen gardens and babbling ponds, the outdoor garden seating is very atmospheric and popular with guests.

On the inside you will encounter the full size suit of Kabutho Samurai armour which stands guard in front of the teppanyaki counter. Across a small bidge you go past tanks of live lobsters to the sushi bar. To your right are the tatami rooms and an ethnic pavilion.

To your left is the main dining area. Matsuri’s many seating options mean that it is suitable for any occasion; be it a romantic dinner for two in the garden a rousing party at one of the teppanyaki counters able to seat up to 25 respectively. A family dinner, a business meeting can be placed in a private room or at the sushi counter.

The beautifully presented lacquered box included a delicious grilled fillet of marinated codfish, a selection of sashimi, crispy prawn and vegetable tempura with light dipping sauce, prawn and seaweed with pickled vegetables, steamed vegetables in a special sauce with a very tender slice of beef, an egg custard dessert, steaming hot miso soup, steamed rice and pickled vegetables on the side. The Nigiri Sushi includes six tuna rolls and a selection of eight other sushi pieces with tuna, salmon cuttlefish, octopus, prawn, marbled fatty tuna, egg and roe.

Matsuri extensive menu also includes Japanese curries, Chinese dumpling and noodle soups, succulent chicken and beef teriyaki and lots more.

Of course there is a good selection of seven different types of sake, Japanese beer like Sapporo and Ebisu, Japanese plum wine, as well as a limited selection of Australian, Chilean, Italian, and Balinese wines.

And to make everything’s perfect for you this restaurant offers a free shuttle pick up service for people staying in hotels at Nusa Dua.

Let’s go to Bali and taste this distinguished Japanese restaurant.

Having a great time at a restaurant and bar in Bali

At Sanur Pala restaurant in Bali you will find a distinct pleasure of dining. The interior design is impressive completed by surprising wine lounge and cuisine.

The menu there is simple, easy to read and kind of funky. Although the menu is simple the taste is not that simple. When you finally make it to be there you can try beef oyster in ginger spring onion. You can also try smoke marlin with salad leaves orange vinaigrette.

The frappe refreshers delivered very nicely on the promise of a zesty beverage like Lychee and Lime.

In the menu list you will also find other classic dishes like a coconut curry (laksa), five spice duck noodle soup, spice barbecue ribs marinated in citrus honey.

They also provide the very cool wine bar stocks with a selection of over 60 wines including four wines and one sparkling wine by the glass.

Sanur Pala Restaurant and Wine Bar is located on Jl. Bypass Ngurah Rai Sanur Bali.

Are you being so attached to Bali?

A holiday to Bali is always unforgettable. It brings you more desire to come and come again like living in a paradise daily.

Sometimes you want to bring something from Bali that will remind you about the atmosphere of being there after you have returned to your home.

I read an article made by Tracey Candido about a few dos and don’ts in bringing home those interesting Bali souvenirs.

According to Tracey, you should always ask for a written quote for getting your goods home before you leave Bali, and always get as much information as possible in order to help keep track of your goods.

You should also ask your shipping agent to check on the requirements for fumigation of certain materials being imported into different countries as this does vary greatly from country to country.

Tracey reminds you to give yourself plenty of time to look thoroughly at the area of your choice as prices only get better as your knowledge increases.

Never accept the first price you are given, though this is not the same as haggling over a t-shirt or copy watch.

Take into account your shipping costs and contact an agent before you venture out on your buying trip so you are fore warned of added costs.

Well, thank you Tracy for you advice. Happy shopping in Bali friends

Let’s “snore” at Sanur Bali

It is funny to know that some people pronounce Sanur as “snore.” And for some good reason because in recent times Sanur has revealed in its reputation as the sleepy, laid back alternative to the more interesting atmosphere on the west coast.

People are always comparing Sanur with Seminyak where the first one sits on the east coast and the other on the west.

At some points they look pretty similar. Sanur with the Jalan By-Pass, Seminyak with the Jalan Sunset. Sanur with the International School, Seminyak with the Australian School. In fact, they are totally different.

Seminyak has been receiving all the attention in recent years as the trendiest set up camp; they even have their own magazine and helipad. Sanur on the other hand has been quietly getting on with the business of doing as little as possible.

This condition is pretty much different with that in the mid of 20th century. People from higher social status will prefer to stay at Sanur and leave all the backpackers find their world at Kuta. Many celebrities chose to stay at Sanur as this place has become a traditional center for Balinese magic.

However, the face of Sanur today is really like a place to snore, or in other words, a place to relax and get away from that business of life like those you find at the attractive and energetic Kuta Beach.

Sanur is probably the best place to be based for a family holiday because the roads are not so bussy and are safe for your children.

You may not find a great place to surf on Sanur but the off shore reef there provides shelter against the strong currents which whip around the island.

Sanur is also good for divers as this place is the starting point for the great dive sites at Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Penida and Amed.

Actually it is really nice to stay and relax here in Sanur Bali.

The West Bali National Park – part II

As I promised in my previous posting, I would like to continue sharing to you about the wonderful West Bali National Park.

The tourism potential of the West Bali National Park is including the unspoiled coral reefs surrounding Menjangan (Deer) Island, is almost unlimited and virtually untapped.

The exclusive resorts dotting the perimeter of the park can proudly take their place among the great game lodges of the world like the Tiger Tops of Nepal, The Matla Manzi of Africa or The Bandhavgarh of India.

Local seafood, supplied daily from the coast is served sumptuously fresh. At the forest nearby you can see barking deer, long tailed macaques, civets, monkeys, wild boars and bos javanicus – a living ancestors of today’s Balinese cattle.

The park also provides some beautiful birdlife includes sea and shore birds such as terns, boobies and frigates, and the endangered Bali starling.

The best info on permits, hiking, guides, vehicle rental, scale model of the park, and possibly even hand out maps can be had from the park headquarters in Cekik, three kilometers south of Gilimanuk at the junction of the road to Singaraja and the road to Denpasar.

The park I’m talking about here is more like a forest than a jungle. A typical walk lasts five hours. You should bring lots of water as it can get extremely hot. Early or late in the day is the best time to see wildlife.

There are some recommended accommodations that you can visit like Mimpi (= Dream) Resort Menjangan (= Deer) which is located at the northwestern corner of Bali. This resort is built on top of a natural hot spring where the water is pumped into natural stone tubs.

Just next to Mimpi Resort you can find Nusa Menjangan that offers three hundreds foot drop offs and undersea caves while its shallow waters tempts even beginning snorkeling lovers to come exploring. For detail information feel free to contact them directly on 0361-36294497.

Hey I have more information before you go there, but I must get going for a while. I will tell you more by the time I get back. See you.

The West Bali National Park

The West Bali National Park (Taman Nasional Bali Barat) is located at the island’s western end. It has such complex habitation including high forests and magnificent coral fringed islands. It has also the perfect complement to Bali’s sun and sea, rice terrace and temple tourism.

This interesting and beautiful area is actually a wild and unvisited side of Bali. This area is determined as National Park since 1980 as the government realize the population growth in Bali. There are only little forests remain in Bali, this step is important to preserve a portion of the island as a wilderness zone and as a buffer against human settlements.

Though west Bali is not as rugged as the areas surrounding the higher mountains of eastern Bali, primary monsoon forests are found along the watershed on the southern slopes of the mountains Sangiang, Merbuk, Musi dan Patas.

At the south sector of the park, you can find clear streams and traversed by footpaths that promise steep but relatively easy walking through forested hills. The park’s sparse and prickly northern sector is much drier than the south, the habitat of scrub acacia, palm savannas and dense mangrove swamps.

If you are interested to go to West Bali I will tell you in my next posting about where to stay with a reasonable price. See you.

More on Bali Elephants Park

I have told you about this interesting adventure park in Bali in my previous posting. But do you know that each elephant has its own name in Bali Elephants Park? They even have playful character and individual temperament. This is very interesting right?! Visitors like you may pet and have their photos taken with these delightful creatures.

High wooden platforms and sturdy tubular steel railings make mounting these animals easy and safe. Accompanied by trainers, the visitor sits high a top the pachyderms in a teak wood saddle for a 30 minute circuit which meanders over meadows and through the Bali forests and shady coconut groves. Riders have a unique perspective in which to view their surroundings.

Naturally playful, inquisitive, with a keen sense of smell, it is fascinating to watch the beasts interacting with their trainers. The younger elephants often disregard instruction and flail their trunks, emerge splashing from the pool or sneak over to munch on a patch of green grass while their trainer is not looking.

In the park’s one of a kind museum and information center visitors learn about the animal’s ancestry and intra species diversity through historical and cultural exhibits, informative posters, elephant memorabilia and an art gallery of works actually produced by the park’s elephant, and the only full size standing replica of a mammoth skeleton in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Bali Elephant Safari Park conforms to international standards of an environmentally friendly theme park. In an effort to conserve the elephant’s native habitat, a percentage of its profits is put towards elephant conservation.

If you are interested to see for yourself this Bali Elephant Safari Park you can contact them at 0361 721480.

Rare bird at Bali Bird Park

The highlight for this spring is definitely the four baby Bali Starlings. This bird is the only endemic bird to the island of Bali and is on the brink of extinction in the wild caused by illegal poaching.

Usually Bali Starlings only produce two or three babies in a nest so it is particularly exciting to see four babies from one parent pair.

The babies are being reared by the parents on large quantities of crickets and mealworms along with their daily diet of fruits and ants.

The Jalak Bali family can be seen by visitors every day at the Bali Bird Park and are even showing signs of building anew nest and starting another family already.

Bali’s Elephant Safari Park

Bali has one elephant park which is located about 30 minutes north of Ubud’s Sayan Ridge. This place is a chance to amble through the island’s cool upland countryside on top of one of the world’s rarest elephant species, the Asian Elephant (Elephas maximus). You can ride it while enjoying the confines of a beautiful and mature tropical park.

This unique eco-friendly, soft adventure attraction, ideal for children, is located in the remote village of Taro, one of the island’s oldest Hindu communities deep in the mountains of Gianyar Regency in Bali.

Daily shows of the elephant’s amazing skills, intelligence an painting talents, as well as rides through the forest and hand feeding, are all part of this special once in a lifetime experience.

The park is the home of more than 15 elephants transported from the Way Kambas Reserve in southern Sumatra. Since their remaining natural habitat in Sumatra is steadily encroached by human settlements and commercial enterprises like palm oil plantations, the animal is considered a pest which tramples crops in search of food.

Officially classified as an endangered species, there is little or no protection for them in the wild and it is estimated that their numbers have been reduced by poachers to less than 1000. One of the animals at the Bali’s Park is missing a tusk as a result of baleful contact with a poacher.

The Bali Elephant’s Safari Park does not and cannot mimic a Sumatran rainforest. It does, however, give the elephants a near to perfect home where they are well cared for and receive the exercise and mental stimulation that any intelligent species of animal requires, providing an even safer habitat than their original home.

If you come to Bali I recommend you to visit this place and I am very sure that you will never forget the experience of riding an elephants through the Bali’s forestry.

In addition, there is a lovely seaside park, known only to locals, at the end of the beach with picnic rest area and rocky outcroppings with natural waterspouts created when waves blow up through fissures in the coral.

For family recreation, Bali Hilton International is beyond compare. Each of its 537 rooms has a private balcony and guests may also choose from a selection of cottages and luxury suites.

Of special interest to children is a separate kid’s club in the far northeast corner on the property with an unreal collection of indoor activities, games and outdoor play equipment where kids can find their own way.

Open only to children of hotel guests the kid’s club is free of charge and operates between 9 am to 6 pm daily.

Bali: a gourmet’s paradise

One thing that I like to promote about Bali is the fact that Bali is really a gourmet’s paradise. The number of high quality restaurants here is truly amazing but the prices are generally so much lower than in any western country. If you don’t get a few kilograms heavies than the first time you arrived, then there must be something missing with your trip to Bali.

At Mezzanine Restaurant you will find a place to eat where east meets west. It is a luxury hotel located at Jl Danau Tamblingan No 63 Sanur Bali. You can contact them at 0361-288009.

At The Village you will find the authentic Italian Flavour chef who blends the traditional taste of Italian home cooking in a friendly atmosphere using only the fines and feshest ingredients. Only a true Italian could prepare such delicious Italian dishes like one you will find at the Village.

Just like Mezzanine, The Village is also located at Jl Danau Tamblingan with number 47. Both are placed in Sanur Bali.

The Spa Treatments at Bagus Jati in Bali

From the mountain-side villas the path leading down to the spa is steep, and walking up and down it is a work out in itself. Sometimes there’s a wait of a few minutes but it’s better than sweating it! From the spa reception, an impressive stone staircase descends past the spa treatment rooms on either side, to the swimming pool and restaurant near the bottom of the ravine. From here the views of the dramatic cliffs and rainforest are truly eye-opening. Ushered into an opulent, little treatment room I was instructed to lay face up, while my therapist went about setting up a brass funnel contraption directly above my forehead. Without much ado, he told me to relax, and opened a valve on the funnel and out streamed warm sesame oil, directly onto my forehead and over my scalp. The effect was almost instantaneous. David had called it an “artificial meditative state “. The sensation is deeply relaxing and I jolted back to consciousness a couple of times during the 45-minute treatment, having dozed off.

During my two-night stay at the retreat I also experienced the ‘malabar’ treatment which comprised a footbath and massage with rock salts, tangerine and peppermint. Not only do your feet come out smelling like polo mints, they are also scrubbed smooth with a pumice rock. This is followed by an intricate massage with three therapists working in sync –and includes a sesame oil massage, turmeric and coriander scrub, hot towel application, and yoghurt ’rinse’. I don’t know what the secret ingredient was, but after this I had a deep sleep and a bizarre dream which involved a friend haven’t seen for years, a Dalek, and a quest for some shoes. Any dream analysts out there?

A bit of Romance

Bagus Jati is also a haven for lovers. The invigorating mountain air, natural surroundings and relaxing treatments with king size bed draped romantically with linen crepe, no TV, and attached Jacuzzi all contribute to that loving feeling.

A great getaway spot at Seraya Bali

It will take forty minutes drive from Candidasa over a twisty and very narrow mountain road to Seraya. And there you will find a beautiful little hideaway hotel, Seraya Shores at Barat region in Bali

Set right on the rocky beach, Seraya Shores has four villas built in true Bali style. Don’t expect air conditioning & television in here because this place is not about modern luxuries. The rooms have fans & some have open bamboo slats for natural airing. Beds are comfortable with mosquito nets. Bathrooms are open and romantic. The views and ocean sounds are incredible.

Seraya Shores is owned by an Australian couple and run on a day to day basis with a fantastic Indonesia team, all of them are Balinese.

There is also an infinity pool, and everything is so blue you really can’t tell where the ocean meets the pool. And don’t forget about the food which is also fantastic.

With a few cliff edges to fall off this area is certainly not a child friendly kind of place but certainly a great weekend getaway or honeymoon spot.

The Big Retreat in Bali, the Island of Paradise

The day having a spa in Bali’s luxury hotel is simply unspoken. But a hotel is still a hotel. And a spa is still a spa.

“We deliberately call ourselves a health and well-being retreat,” said David Haughton, a meditative spa consultant from Australia. With his help the elite property has graced the pages of some of regions’ and the world’s most respected publications like Vogue Australia, Spa Asia and many others. Lot’s of resorts in Bali have spas added on as their facilities and marketing power. However we wanted to define ourselves differently. We are a wellness retreat, a sanctuary if you will where people can find true seclusion and peace of mind; where they can focus purely on rejuvenation their mental and physical health it’s more that just relaxation.

Almost every resort on the island somewhere in its promotional literature will promise at some point to give ‘peace of mind,’ rejuvenation and relaxation. And perhaps all of them do deliver to varying degrees. However, so far that I observed Bagus Jati is one of the few places that can really fulfill the promise.

Bagus Jati’s eight circular villas, positioned strategically along narrow, forested paths, are arranged to achieve total privacy. In fact, if you chose, you could quite easily spend your entire stay film-star-like without ever really seeing another guest. “We see our share of burnt-out professionals here,” informed David. “They can stay for anything from a few days to an entire month. We look at is as kind of maintenance for your body and soul. We’re not as strict as some of the other retreats, like Thailand’s China Som for example.

If you want to have a drink, this place will provide it. If you want us to help you undertake a healthier regime, we can do that too. Our detoxify programs are proving to be very popular and we are now working with a very experienced Australian acupuncture therapist. Acupuncture can be helpful for everything from migraines to arthritis, fatigue and even decreased libido. Asia has such a rich tradition of rehabilitative therapies which makes them a natural choice for us to offer here.

The longest point break in Bali: the ideal place for beginner and amateur surfers

Medewi, a remote place I mentioned in my previous posting, apparently has the longest point break in Bali. Sometimes the wave rolls gently for 200 or even 400 meters long.

It works best at mid to high tide on a two meter high sell. On bigger swells, a right hand breaking peak breaks in the middle of the bay straight in front of traditional fishing.

A five hundred meter walk south of the main point break will lead you to the Pulukan River mouth, a thrilling fast breaking right hander that, although visible from the main Bali-Java road, seems to miss the crowds.

As in the case everywhere in Bali, the locals are friendly both in and out of the surf. As a bonus, Medewi’s spectacular sunsets and cool and quite tropical evenings add a touch of glamour. In the end, Medewi is a solitary traveler’s kind of place and in absolutely in no danger of becoming a hot spot.

If you finally come to Medewi, you may choose some place to stay. As far as I can remember, the largest accommodation is at Medewi Beach Cottages. You can reach that place from the number 0365-40029/40030. Or if you like, the cheapest place to stay is the family run Warung & Homestay Gede, but I don’t have their number.

The beach consists of a stretch of huge smooth grey rocks with some sandy patches. The current is light and the waves probably the easiest on Bali, ideal for beginner and amateur surfers.

Are you looking for a surfer paradise in a tiny and remote place in Bali?

If you drive down to the west along the Jembrana coast you will get to Medewi, a tiny and remote tourist destination in Bali. Situated about 75 kilometers from Denpasar or 34 kilometers west of Tabanan, Medewi is actually one of Bali’s premier surf spots.

This place has become a kind of paradise for surfer from Japan and Australia. They usually come to Medewi for surfing because the rocky beach there is not suitable for sunbathing or swimming.

Medewi is quite far from Kuta and you will find no nightclub or bars atmosphere like those at Kuta.

The best time for surf is early in the morning before the wind picks up, and the biggest waves are usually come in August where most fishermen there don’t dare to go out to the sea.

Hanging out at Kuta Sidewalk in Kuta Bali

Kuta Sidewalk is located right next to Kuta Square and being a place for many café and restaurants along its sidewalks.

You will meet many people here from around the world. Beautiful girls are everywhere for your eyes to see. Unluckily they usually come with their father or husband or at least with a boyfriend.

There are several places I recommend you to see. Stadium café is one cool place to hang out. This café provides you with big screen television where you can watch sports program. This cozy place is also completed with the cook that is also delicious. Or if you like to play pool this place also has that facility where you can play for free, as long as you order food and drink off course.

At peak season this place is crowded with many tourists from Australia. It’s just fun to see Australian babes hanging out together watching sports program while having diner and cheerful talks. If you get lucky and have quite a gut, you might get a chance to know them.

Other places where you can visit are Bluefin, Japanese Fusion and Wine Lounge.

Kuta Sidewalk is really an interesting place to go whenever you visit Bali. Enjoy your vacation have a nice traveling around Bali Island.
