One of the best destinations in Bali: Gunung Agung

The highest and holiest of Bali’s peaks, the summit of Gunung Agung reaches an awe-inspiring 3,142m. It is also home the mother temple, Besakih, from where hikers can ake the only route that reaches the summit. The volcano erupted in 1963 with massive force blowing away the top 100 m of the peak and leaving a gigantic 500m crater. Climbing the peak is a legendary hard slog, but something to tell your grandchildren about, and rewards climber with incredible views.

Small public transportation run to Besakih. Tour buses go from Kuta and Ubud. Taking a guide to the summit is basically compulsory.

Ibah Luxury Villas as Ubud Bali

Ubud is a popular destination for honeymooners because of its cooler mountain climate and views of rolling rice paddies.

It shows them a side of Bali far removed from busy Kuta Beach and the resorts of Nusa Dua and Jimbaran, with easy access to Gunung Agung and the Ayung River for hiking and rafting tours respectively.

It is also the cultural home of Bali with regular performances of traditional dance, a cornucopia of art galleries featuring work by local and international artists, and lessons in everything from pottery and jewelry making to cooking and textile dyeing.

With some beautiful resorts set amongst the lush greenery and a focus on villa style accommodation, it is perfect for honeymooners seeking a hide away. A lot of people want a villa with private pool, garden area and good room service so they don’t have to leave their room if they don’t want to, and so that they don’t feel cramped like in a hotel.

The villas would want to be spacious and comfortable; most of Ibah’s honeymooners come from Japan, and many bring their parents along to help celebrate and share the room with them.

The staff there understands that it is a special time for the couple and so they are extra discreet and helpful. They will organize tours for couples wanting to go to sites such as Kintamani volcano or Besakih.

When it comes time for pampering, the couple is guaranteed privacy and tranquility with exclusive use of the spa facilities which include double massage beds, flower filled bath and Jacuzzi.

You can take a four night honeymoon package including the villa, breakfast, spa treatments over three days, a three course pool side dinner, free transport around Ubud, and complimentary activities such as Tai Chi classes, mountain biking and afternoon tea.

One of the best sightseeing highlights in Bali: Pura Luhur Uluwatu

Uluwatu is Bali’s most dramatic temple, with a spectacular location perched some 70 meters on the very tip of a narrow promontory above the crashing waves of the Indian Ocean. Sunset is the best time to see and photograph the temple but it is also the time when the crowds converge.

The temple was reputedly built in the eleventh century, and rebuilt in its present stat in the 16th century. Keep an eye out for naughty monkey. I really suggest you to take a guide for the tour around Uluwatu. It is not because this temple is so big that you need someone to take you here and there but mostly because this guide will also guard you from those monkeys. Trust me I know the experience when a wild monkey tried to grab my little daughter!

Uluwatu is located 20 km south of Kuta. Public transport is unreliable so you better to take your own transport or join one of the many tours available.
