Heaven for honeymoon in Bali: catching up the romance of Paradise Island

According to Marian Carroll, the Balinese do not practice the honeymoon ritual themselves, but they certainly know how to put on a show for the thousands of newly weds who escape to the island every year to celebrate their new life together.

In fact, the Balinese do it so well that some traveling couples book in for honeymooner packages even though their claim to newly wed status is dubious. You can’t blame them. With its world class spas and restaurants, diverse scenery, cultural charms and unfailing hospitality, it is easy to get caught up in the romance of Bali.

Wedding organizer Oka Purnama says some honeymooners get so captivated that they want a second wedding ceremony in Bali, wearing the traditional Balinese costumes and exchanging vows in a Puri royal house. How romantic!

Many honeymooners ask for a Balinese ceremony just to experience a bit more of the island’s culture. The ceremony there is usually very simple and no legal ceremony with no guests involved in it.

Otherwise, the most common requests she gets are for cruise excursions to Nusa Lembongan to dive, surf and fish; dolphin sighting tours off Lovina on the north coast; rafting down the Ayung River in Ubud; and permission to watch religious ceremonies such as cremations.

Crash courses in Balinese cooking are also popular. Otherwise, couples just want to be pampered and relax before settling into married life.

There is no better place for it. The world class resorts and hotels dotted around the island have their finger on the pulse, with discreet yet efficient service to ensure peace, privacy and pampering for every couple, whether they want to lock themselves away or get out form some adventure.

Here are just a few of the most popular honeymoon destinations. Just come to Bali and experience the unforgettable honeymoon.
